A. Compensation is divided into two categories: General Damages and Special Damages.

General Damages are compensation for your pain, suffering and for any disablement which you suffer, whether that be permanent or temporary. These are usually based on what the courts have awarded in other cases where similar injuries were sustained.

Special Damages are compensation for your out of pocket expenses, such as repairs to your car, loss of earnings, travel expenses, care expenses, damage to property, loss of insurance excess and any other expenses which you have incurred as a result of the accident.
